About the Scholarship

Established as an annual award for an exceptional performing arts student that is a Senior at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School

The Scholarship Honors:

• A student that is passionate about the arts
• A student whose talent is easily recognized, but more importantly, who is humble and freely given to continual self-improvement in the discipline of the arts.
• A student who demonstrates a maturity beyond his or her years.
• A student who is an inspiration & mentor to others who share his/her love for the arts.
• A student whose high school work demonstrates his/her desire to create and contribute to the ongoing evolution of the arts.

Jamey was a unique individual who will never be replaced in our hearts.  We will never forget the contributions, the love, the passion, and the talent he shared with all of us.  Nevertheless, he would smile and and be happy to know we are continuing to carry his light with us, searching every year to help a student of exceptional potential develop a passion much like Jamey’s.  We hope to see a bit of this light in the award recipient.
